| 2.CPT Policies

CPT Policies

CPT is required for master's and doctoral programs at HU. Master's programs require at least 2 semesters of CPT to be eligible for graduation.

F-1 visa students are asked to start their CPT internships on the first day of the first semester (Day-1 CPT full-time job). Students who have submitted I-539 for status change or have B-1/B-2 or F-2 visas and are transferring to F-1 visas must achieve a GPA of 3.0 or above in their first semester to apply for CPT for the later semesters.

CPT internships must be related to the course content. CPT can be full-time (working 21-40 hours/week) or part-time. (working 20 hours or less/week)

Regarding CPT employers, after the employer completes the CPT Verification Form and submits the Offer Letter to the international student department for approval, the school will issue an I-20 form containing the employer's information.

When registering for next semester's courses in advance, CPT will automatically be extended to the beginning of the next semester, covering the GAP between semesters, and allowing students to work legally continuously.

*Note that international students with F-1 visas are NOT allowed to enroll in two or more online courses per semester as per USCIS regulations. However, there is no online course limitation for students with H1-B or H-4 visas.
