Concordia University Texas adheres to USCIS regulations to authorize CPT for international students.
Eligibility for CPT from Program Start
✅ Current OPT and F1 students may obtain CPT Authorization from Day 1 of the program.
❌ Oversea applicants cannot obtain CPT Authorization from Day 1 of the program.
❌ Change of Status (to F1 Status) applicants cannot obtain CPT Authorization from Day 1 of the program.
“Day 1 CPT Universities” isn’t an official term. It refers to schools that may allow CPT from the first semester, but approval isn’t guaranteed. CPT typically takes 5–15 business days after complete documents are submitted.
CPT Details
CPT authorization needs to be renewed every term.
CPT is not required for graduation.
Authorization & Renewal
CPT is granted each semester for up to a cumulative 12 months. If you wish to extend CPT beyond 12 months, you may do so at your own discretion, but be aware that doing CPT for more than 12 months at one degree level will forfeit your eligibility for post-program OPT.
Break Usage
During Christmas, Spring, and other breaks specified in the academic calendar, students may continue CPT work in accordance with university guidelines.
Semester Requirements
To renew CPT each term, you must submit the required evaluation form with your employer’s signature (or an Employment Verification Letter), and apply at least two weeks before the semester begins.
CPT is not a program requirement. The school does not require employers to sign a CPT agreement. However, the employer must provide a letter confirming the student’s employment. The specific details required in the letter are outlined in the CPT Application File.
