Hybrid Format & On-Site Requirement

Onsite Policy:

North Carolina Wesleyan University requires international student attend onsite residency class once per term.

  • The onsite requirement consists of one weekend per semester (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) for a total of five onsite sessions over the entire program.


Vacation Policy:

International students at North Carolina Wesleyan University cannot take term breaks.

 

CPT Policy

North Carolina Wesleyan University adheres to USCIS regulations to authorize CPT for international students.

Eligibility for CPT from Program Start

✅ Current OPT and F1 students may obtain CPT Authorization from Day 1 of the program.

❌ Oversea applicants cannot obtain CPT Authorization from Day 1 of the program.

❌ Change of Status (to F1 Status) applicants cannot obtain CPT Authorization from Day 1 of the program.

 

“Day 1 CPT Universities” isn’t an official term. It refers to schools that may allow CPT from the first semester, but approval isn’t guaranteed. CPT typically takes 5–15 business days after complete documents are submitted.

 

CPT Details

CPT authorization needs to be renewed every term.

CPT is required for graduation.

Employment Requirement:

  • NCWU requires students to maintain employment throughout the entire program duration.
  • Students must submit a weekly work log each week, signed by their direct supervisor.

Payment Plans

✅ Available

NCWU offers a semester-based payment plan that divides tuition into five monthly payments (four for summer). A $20 application fee applies each semester. Payments are due on the first of each month, and automatic payments can be set up through CASHNet. Accounts must remain current to preregister for the next term, and all balances must be paid in full before graduation or receiving official transcripts. Late payments may incur a $10 fee, and returned payments carry a $35 service charge.

What is the application deadline?

What are the requirements to apply?

  • If you have an active SEVIS and are currently on OPT, STEM OPT, or studying at a U.S. university or language school, select 'F-1 Transfer On-campus'.
  • If you’re an initial student in the U.S. (e.g., transitioning from H1B to F1 visa) or have an expired F-1 visa that requires reinstatement, choose 'F-1 Initial On-campus'.
    Note: International students are not eligible for 100% online courses.

  • Bank statement showing a balance of at least $20,000 within the last three months (equivalent amounts in other currencies are accepted). Documents must be in English and US currency.
  • Your Passport.   

Processing typically takes 24-48 hours.

What is the process to apply for CPT?

To apply for CPT authorization from day 1, students must submit a signed CPT Agreement from their employer before the application deadline. Each semester, the employer's signature on the evaluation form is required to renew the CPT authorization.

*If the current employer does not sign the CPT Agreement, students can submit an Employment Verification Letter as an alternative (check with your advisor for more details).

It is recommended to apply for CPT at least two weeks before the semester begins
