Dallas Baptist University (DBU), founded in 1898, is a four-year Catholic school located in the city of Dallas, Texas, USA. Currently, the student population is around 5,000, with international students accounting for approximately 10-15%. Day 1 CPT Policy

◎ F1 students

To Maintain your Status - F-1 Student Visa:

  • DBU requires students to take a full course load during the required semesters(9+ credits for graduate program) to maintain an F-1 student visa.

◎ CPT Work hours

On-Campus Work: Limited to 20 hours/week while enrolled, 40 hours/week during breaks.

Off-Campus Work: Must receive authorization from a DSO

◎ CPT Instruction

  • Log into your Immigration Portal and read the CPT request for more information

  • Make sure you fulfill the listed immigration and DBU requirements

  • Complete the application

Important facts:

Do not work with your CPT until you have received your I-20 with CPT authorization. Further, you may not begin working until the CPT start date listed on the I-20. Your EAD card (Employment Authorization Document) for CPT is the CPT I-20 provided by the DSO after your CPT has been approved.

| Tuition and Scholarship

The tuition fee for Dallas Baptist University (DBU)’s graduate program is charged by credits. The regular graduation requirements are 36-40 credits, each credit is $1,177, and total tuition is $42,000 to $47,000 (for 3 years, an average of $14,124 per year).

** CPT is counted as an internship course and cost an additional fee of $10,593 for one year of CPT work. (3 credits per semester, 3 CPT courses per year)

DBU has 3 semesters a year: Fall, Spring and Summer.

  • International students must take 9 credits (3 courses, including 3 credits of internship courses) in the Fall and Spring semesters

  • Can only take 3 credits of internship courses in Summer

  • Among all the semesters, the summer semester is a short semester, students can apply for vacation, which only takes 3 credits of CPT courses. Fall and Spring semester requires 6 credits (which are 2 courses) in addition to CPT courses

*With a relatively high admission bar, it is recommended that transfer students in the United States apply two months in advance, and students who are outside of the U.S. apply 3.5 months in advance.

  1. A Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution (U.S. or international degree)

  2. Evidence of sound moral character and compatibility with DBU's mission

  3. Two letters of recommendation from non-family members

  4. A current professional resume

  5. Official transcript, undergraduate Transcript shows that the academic success of a GPA of 3.0 or above

  6. A Statement of Purpose (outlining reasons for seeking admission, answering each question with approximately 150 words, as this is considered a writing sample)

  7. Language requirements: IBT TOEFL 79 / IELTS 6.0 overall and a 5.5 minimum on any section / Duolingo 105 / Enroll in school IEP courses/ GMAT: above 425; GRE: above top 32%

    (language requirement can be waived if you previously have a US bachelor's degree)
