Avila University's Arizona Campus offers two majors with five concentrations that welcome F-1 international students. Hybrid Format & On-Site Requirement

Onsite Policy:

Avila University Arizona requires international student attend onsite residency class bi-monthly.

  • At AUA, each term is structured as a two-month academic period, with one mandatory onsite session required per term. As each semester consists of two terms, students are required to attend onsite sessions twice per semester. Onsite sessions are typically held over the weekend, running from Saturday at 9:00 AM to approximately 7:00 PM and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Saturday begins with sign-in and welcome, followed by orientation sessions, DSO guidance, and student support activities, and continues with academic coursework, concluding with dinner and a networking event. Sunday includes sessions on career services, leadership development, and additional DSO support, followed by reflection and survey activities.


Vacation Policy:

International students at Avila University Arizona cannot take term breaks.

 

CPT Policy

Avila University Arizona adheres to USCIS regulations to authorize CPT for international students.

Eligibility for CPT from Program Start

✅ Current OPT and F1 students may obtain CPT Authorization from Day 1 of the program.

✅ Oversea applicants may obtain CPT Authorization from Day 1 of the program.

✅ Change of Status (to F1 Status) applicants may obtain CPT Authorization from Day 1 of the program.

 

“Day 1 CPT Universities” isn’t an official term. It refers to schools that may allow CPT from the first semester, but approval isn’t guaranteed. CPT typically takes 5–15 business days after complete documents are submitted.

 

CPT Details

CPT authorization needs to be renewed every term.

CPT is not required for graduation.

  • CPT must be renewed each term. If there are no major changes (such as employer or job duties), students only need to submit a CPT renewal form. If there are changes, a new CPT application is required.
  • To apply, students must submit a completed CPT request form and provide proof of employment. Employment verification must be sent directly to the office by both the hiring manager/supervisor and the academic advisor. CPT will not be authorized without these two confirmations.
  • If the employer is unable to use the required job offer template, the university may accept an alternative offer letter, provided it includes all of the following:
    1. A statement similar to:"This letter is to confirm that [Student Full Name] has been offered a practical training opportunity with [Company Name] as a [Position Title].
    2. Official company letterhead
    3. Signature of the hiring manager or supervisor, including their contact information
    4. A description of the duties and responsibilities
    5. The physical address of the work location
    6. The employment start date
    7. The number of hours per week
    8. The employment end date (if applicable)

FAQs

How long does it take to my process CPT request?
  • Your CPT request will be processed within one business week after all documents are received. Submitting duplicate requests will delay processing for everyone.
What are AUA's admission requirements?
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all undergraduate or graduate coursework. (Applicants with a GPA between 2.5 and 2.74 may be considered for provisional admission.)
  • Meet English language proficiency requirements (IELTS 6.0, TOEFL iBT 75, Duolingo 105 or equivalent from an approved standardized tests.)
  • Submit official transcripts for all post-secondary education.

Additional Requirements:
To receive the I-20, international students are required to submit additional documentation:

  • Financial guarantee requirements: A statement of finance to demonstrate sufficient funds to cover tuition and living expenses
  • Bank statements
  • Affidavit of Support (If the applicant is NOT the bank account holder)

CPT Authorization Dates

CPT is authorized only at the start of each academic sessions: Fall 1/ Fall 2 / Spring 1 / Spring 2 / Summer 1 / Summer 2

To avoid delays, submit all required documents before your session begins. Late submissions may be accepted, but processing may take longer than one week if received after the session start date.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be enrolled full-time (at least 6 credits per semester).
  • You must have completed at least one academic year in the U.S.
