International Technological University (ITU), established in 1994, is a private nonprofit higher education institution primarily focused on master's and doctoral education. Located adjacent to Silicon Valley, ITU specializes in STEM subjects and management sciences.
Guided by the concept of integrating education, technological development, and industry demands, ITU provides its students with flexible internship policies as well as Day 1 CPT programs.
Over 50% of the students at ITU earn internship salaries exceeding $80,000 per year, surpassing the national average. With its exceptional geographical location and unique teaching philosophy, ITU offers aspiring engineers a rare opportunity to enter the world of Silicon Valley.
“NOTE: In early 2021, ITU faced allegations regarding the implementation of its CPT (Curricular Practical Training) program. Subsequently, the university undertook reforms and standardization measures for the CPT internship program. The institution has since reached a resolution with the complainants and the USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services). The CPT work authorization has been fully restored. If you have any further questions, please consult us for free.”

| Day-1 CPT Programs
Day 1 CPT Policy
International Technological University (ITU) emphasizes practical experience in its graduate and doctoral degree programs, where internships and work are integral parts of the curriculum. International students are required to utilize CPT (Curricular Practical Training) for their employment. Students can apply for CPT internship status by enrolling in the INT593 internship course.
-
For equivalent degree holders who have already used CPT/OPT, they are not eligible to apply for CPT again. For example, if OPT has been used at the master's level, students entering ITU's master’s programs cannot obtain a CPT
Under normal circumstances,
-
If a student wishes to apply for full-time CPT during their initial application, they must provide proof of previous work experience. It is advisable to consult with an advisor for specific details.
-
To renew CPT, students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and have no failing grades in the previous INT593 internship course. Failure to meet these conditions may result in a downgrade from full-time to part-time CPT or cancellation of the internship eligibility.
-
Regardless of whether the internship is part-time or full-time, the total duration of internships during the program should not exceed 9 credits (equivalent to 3 full-time CPT or 9 part-time CPT).
-
Internship projects must be related to the field of study, and the internship company must provide an employment confirmation. Only one employer is allowed at any given time.
-
During the internship period, students are required to fulfill the requirements of the INT593 course: submitting an internship description before the course starts, a midterm internship report, a final internship summary, and a final evaluation form after the internship concludes.
*Based on ITU's current CPT policy, students without a graduate degree are more suitable for pursuing Day 1 CPT at ITU. They can complete the graduate program within one academic year while continuously engaging in full-time CPT. After graduation, they can also qualify for a maximum of 3 years of OPT.
