Day 1 CPT Program
MS Data Analysis
McDaniel College's Data Analytics program equips graduates with the skills needed for roles as data analysts, operational analysts, and leaders within the global IT sector. Offering a deep dive into essential areas like data science, statistics, data mining, and big data, the program ensures a well-rounded understanding of the field. Through practical experience, students learn to apply data analytics principles effectively, focusing on real-world application, ethical practices in data handling, and accurate result interpretation. Graduates emerge ready to navigate the complexities of data-driven environments, improve decision-making, and boost organizational effectiveness. The curriculum also covers statistical methods and database management, culminating in a hands-on capstone project in the final year that allows students to practice data collection and analysis.Under $21,000 full program / $4,134 per semester.
How to Pay

- Pay Online https://webapps.mcdaniel.edu/grad_payment/
- Payment Schedule: Payment is made on a course-by-course basis and is due 10 days prior to the start of each course (roughly every 8 weeks).
3 credits fully online, 3 credits hybrid each semester
CPT approved for 1 year and renewed for 2nd year
3-day residency each semester, typically held over weekend apart from first and last semester of program.
Lodging – McDaniel will arrange for hotel rooms for students for each residency date with a negotiated discounted rate. Students are responsible for booking their room. Information about this will be provided to students for the summer semester in March/April.
We recommend you arrive the night before as the session on Friday will begin promptly at 8 a.m. The important thing to do now is mark your calendar for the following dates: May 19-23 for travel and class.
Transportation from Airport to Westminster – Shuttle service is provided one-time only the evening before residency begins. More information provided by GPS office for deposited students closer to the date.

Summer semester is optional for students unless it is your first semester enrolled
Master’s Curriculum and Course Sequence (30 credits)
Experiential Component
Can be satisfied in one of two ways
- Current position in the field
- Submit Experiential Requirement Option Form
- Submit detailed job description or employer offer letter
- Submit employer Cooperative Agreement Form
- Practicum requirement
Zero-credit practicum course which will provide access to data for the purpose of completing projects within the course. Each course will have an attached practicum option for those without current employment which satisfies the experiential requirements.

- 3.0 grade point average (or foreign equivalent). (Provisional admission for lower GPA considered on case-by-case basis).
- Introduction to statistics
- English-language (79 TOEFL, 6.5 IELTS, 110 Duolingo, US degree)

Admission Process
Step 1: Application and Admission Decision
Apply online at https://admission.mcdaniel.edu/apply/
- This page will say “Welcome to the McDaniel Application!” and provide information for all types of students.
- When you arrive on this page, click the link: “Create an account” for first-time users.
- Register with your basic information (email address, first name, last name and birthdate)
- You’ll Select an application type: Graduate & Professional Studies 2024; the appropriate term; and click “Create Application”
- Once created, you will be able to utilize the link to “Log in” for returning users
- Provide your appropriate supplemental materials. These can be uploaded directly to your application.
International students must also submit the following documents to be issued an I-20:
- Copy of visa.
- Copy of passport.
- Copy of I-20 documents.
- Copy of I-94.
- Financial Support/Sponsorship Form and current Bank Statement confirming 1 year of cost of attendance. Tuition, room and board = $25,000. Add $5,000 for each dependent.
- I-20 Transfer form. Please note that transfer date should be no later than the start date of the program, particularly if currently on OPT.
After Admission
1. Submit initial $250 deposit (applied to first semester tuition)
You will receive instructions to set up your My McDaniel Account.
2. You will be provided a McDaniel email account. All official communication will now go to this account.
3. International Students will need to complete the I-20 document requirements
- Financial support/sponsorship forms with bank statement(s)
- I-20 Transfer form
- CPT application and cooperative agreement form
4. Enrollment/Registration: all students are registered for classes by the Graduate and Professional Studies office
5. CPT Application to include:
- A completed and signed CPT Agreement Form from your employer, along with the following:
- A current, official signed offer letter from the employer to the student on company letterhead
- A current, dated detailed job description on company letterhead listing the job title and responsibilities for the CPT position
Please note: Students with OPT should be aware that the transfer date should be no later than the start date of the program (Summer: 5/20/2024, Fall: 8/16/2024).
