| Day-1 CPT Programs

Day 1 CPT Policy

◎ F1 students

Sullivan University, in accordance with USCIS regulations, provides CPT work authorization to students.

For students in the EMBA, MSMIT, Dual Degree (MBA&MSMIT), or MSM (experiential learning track) programs, as per the curriculum, they are required to take a minimum of four Knowledge Management Practicum courses (MGT596, MGT597, MGT696, and MGT697; 1 credit each) to demonstrate the application of their acquired knowledge in practical work. Therefore, international students need to utilize CPT from the first day of enrollment.

Similarly, students in the Ph.D. in Management (IT Management Concentration) program are also required to take a minimum of four Knowledge Management Practicum courses (CSC734, CSC735, CSC736, and CSC737; 1 credit each) to demonstrate the application of their acquired knowledge in practical work. Therefore, international students need to utilize CPT from the first day of enrollment.

All Knowledge Management Practicum courses require students to attend unified classes in the 1st, 5th, and 8th weeks of each semester. Missing one class will result in the immediate termination of CPT authorization.

During the first four semesters, students must simultaneously enroll in Knowledge Management Practicum courses. Afterward, they no longer need to select courses in subsequent semesters and can directly utilize CPT (without paying the 1 credit for the Knowledge Management Practicum course).

◎ Day-1 CPT Class Format:

Sullivan University has a total of 4 semesters per year, with a 2-week break between each semester following the completion of 11 weeks of coursework.

In addition to Knowledge Management Practicum courses (for the first four semesters), F1 students need to choose two additional courses each semester (one Onsite course and one Online course).

  • Onsite courses require students to be present on campus during the 1st, 5th, and 8th weeks. Knowledge Management Practicum classes are held on Fridays from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, and the chosen Onsite course takes place on Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 5 PM (starting from the fifth semester, only Saturday classes are required). If class schedules coincide with holidays, adjustments will be made and communicated in advance. The second course, an Online course, allows students to study pre-recorded lessons at their own pace within the given deadlines for assignments and exams, offering great flexibility.

After three consecutive semesters of study, students can communicate with the school's DSO and take a break for one semester, but CPT cannot be used during the break.

◎ CPT Instruction

  • For the first four semesters, students need to select Knowledge Management Practicum courses (this step can be omitted starting from the fifth semester).

  • Students submit CPT application materials (Offer Letter, employer-signed CPT Cooperation Agreement, etc.) to the school's DSO.

  • Upon approval of CPT, students receive a new I-20 and can start working based on the CPT start date indicated on the I-20.

  • Normally, CPT applications are submitted after the start of the first semester, and CPT becomes effective within the first week. For subsequent semesters, CPT can be applied in advance to ensure no gaps in CPT authorization.

CPT Policies

On Saturdays during Onsite classes, Sullivan University's cafeteria offers a complimentary gourmet meal prepared by the school's culinary students.
